Role profiles
At the implementation of Pay and Reward, all council and non-teaching school posts, with the exception of Soulbury colleagues' posts, will have been mapped to one of the council's new role profiles.
They will seem different from your current Job Description as they do not define your role through a list of tasks and activities. Instead they group together elements of each role into common "factors" such as knowledge, skills and experience, mental effort and responsibility.
They have been created following a wide review of all BCP Council roles, with input from senior managers and headteachers, combined with knowledge of similar roles in other local authorities. They are used to compare each position and its elements (or factors) with other positions in the council in a disciplined and consistent way to form a rank order of all council positions. This purpose has many benefits including forming the basis of their grading for our proposed new pay structure, supporting the development of organisational structures and people development programmes. Crucially, it enables us to ensure we pay equal pay for equal work.
